This hat was built for fun.  Fun at the park on a winter-y day, that is.   Black and moss green yarns were used to make this knit hat.  It is double knit so it is very warm.  Have fun!!

the OSCARS

And the winner is...this golden beauty for outstanding performance by a knit hat while protecting a head from the chilly willy weather.  Oh, and the after awards party is at, well, you know.  Yum,Yum.  Home cooking'!

the SNOW DROP

It's like a gum drop...but not.  Actually, it's a hat dropped on the snow.  And a very pretty little hat, at that.  Knit with a mixture of white and pastel yarns, the hat is snuggly warm and the perfect cover up for a cold February morning.

the TWEEDY PIE

Blue, yellow and red yarns knit together give this hat a tweedy look.  The hat is thick and warm and just perfect for wearing on a cold, snowy day.

the ON WISCONSIN

Red and White!  Nice color combo for a cheery little hat especially when its worn while hiking through a military park on a cold, grey day in February.  Brightens the day (and the mood), don't you think?  The double layers of yarn give it extra thickness and warmth.  Go Badgers!!

the CHERRY

In honor of President George Washington's birth date may I present to you "the Cherry".  Beautiful (and very soft) red yarn mixed with green and brown yarns give this hat the necessary warmth for a cold February day.  I wonder if any hats like this were available to the militia when they were hunkered down during that winter encampment at Valley Forge.  brrrrr

the EARLY SPRING

I came upon these daffodils yesterday during a walk in the park.  What a delightful surprise!  They are an early sign that Spring is just around the corner.  This lightweight knit hat in pastel peach and white would be the perfect fit for a late winter stroll in the fresh (but chilly) air.  Just lovely.

the LEMON HEAD

Perfectly fine day for a stroll through the grocery store, I'd say.  This nifty looking hat will keep me warm during my dash from the car to the store.  Don't let the sunny sky fool you.  It's about thirty degrees outside today.  brrrrr!

Today is Chinese New Year.  In honor of the day I am presenting to you a knit hat based on the principal of feng shui.  The wood elements call for the use of green, blue, black, brown and the neutral earth tone colors.  Enjoy the hat.  Enjoy your year.

the DUANE

Nice and warm for a chilly February day, this hat is knit from mid weight yarns that have been doubled for extra thickness and warmth.  The maroon and blue color mixture give this hat a tweedy look.  Classic!  Just like my brother.  H. B. Duane!!

the CREW OF ONE

It's time to party.  Don't let the cool color of this hat fool you.  It's a perfect choice for celebrating Fat Tuesday.  Tonight we party fais do-do style.  Tomorrow we don't.

the TRAVELER

On the road with my hat.  This time we're in Demopolis, Alabama admiring a statue dedicated to confederate soldiers.  The brim of this hat is extra thick and can ward off the chilliest weather, especially on a clear winter day.  History buffs will weather anything!  (but, this hat helps!)  

the LEFTOVERS

This hat is made from bits and pieces of yarn that are leftover from other projects.  I like to save these short pieces of yarn and tie them all together in order to use them to make a new hat.  I like to leave the tied edges exposed.  The rough ends give the hat a textured look.  Don't let the name LEFTOVERS fool you.  No,No.  This little hat is just as well thought out design-wise as all the other hats.  (Sitting on a pile of cannon balls, huh?)  BOOM!!!

Who's this sly little character resting his head on my pillow?  Could it be cupid?  Why, yes, I believe it is!  Happy Valentines Day to everyone!!!

the PINKY

This knit hat is perfect for a young girl.  It's soft.  It's warm.  It's pink.  I like it.  I really do.

the AVOCADO

That's what the colors of this knit hat remind me of...an avocado.  Soft.  Warm.  Comfy.  Great for wearing but, please, do not eat.  Even if you loose a bet.  Do. not. eat. your. hat!

the TYBEE TWINS

Look who I ran into today ..... Timmy and Tommy Tybee.  Yup, identical twins.  It's hard to tell them apart, isn't it?  O.K., one's a little thinner but really!  Nice seeing them out and about.  Enjoy your day, fellas.

the LITTLE PEEPS

The colors in this hat remind me of the little sugar-y marshmallow-y peeps candy that line the grocery shelves at Easter time.  The little chicken shaped candies are always made in vivid pastel colors.  mmmmm.....goo-ey and sticky (to the teeth)!!  This hat design is acheived by knitting three different yarns together in alternating rows.  It's ready for springtime wear.  (How 'bout those hibiscus flowers!)

the CHURCH LADY

This sweet little hat went to church with me yesterday.  Pink and green yarns knit together give the crown of this hat its special beauty.  And it's warm, too.  Cozy.....zzzzz.  Could put you to sleep with the added warmth.  Ah, but no sleeping in church.  Chuckle.

the MISS SUSAN

mmmmm.....what a way to wake up.  Pancakes, scrambled eggs and sausage.  I took this hat to the pancake breakfast at the church on Saturday.  And what a good hat it is!  This pastel pink and blue beauty sat at attention while I ate.  And then we went home.  Perfect!

the FROSTY

This lightweight knit hat is all white except for the tiny silver metallic threads that are present in the crown of the hat.  It is very soft.  Very pretty and just right for a chilly morning!

the SASSY J

What do you think of this?  Here she is--miss SASSY-- all decked out in her pink and blue hat.  I believe it's a hit!  We love you SASSY!!!

the M and G

The M and G stands for the maroon and gold.  These are the school colors for the University of Minnesota.....my alma mater.  I made this hat to wear while I was watching U of M sports (mostly on TV) just to show school spirit.  That's about it.  I like it.

the TRICIA

This hat is knit from all cotton yarn.  The vibrant pastel colored yarns are double knit and provide plenty of warmth.  It's a happy looking hat!  Speaking of happy...happy, happy, birthday, birthday to Tricia!!

the RAM

I like the color combination of green and gold.  I think this might be some school's colors or something.  Somewhere.  Maybe.  Nice hat!

Shadow?  No shadow?  hmmm...either way, I'm going back to sleep.  zzzzzzzzzz

the DAY

This hat was knit from the same blue speckled yarn that was used in the previous hat (the NIGHT) but white yarn was mixed in with the blue yarn instead of black yarn.   I wanted to see how much of a difference there might be in the general appearance of the hats.  This hat is obviously lighter colored but not as light as I thought it would be.  The black yarn, however, has a greater effect on the overall color  by darkening the hat more than the white yarn lightens it.  It may be because of the greater color contrast between the yarns.  (geek moment)   OK, I'm done!
